OSCE

Finished my exam yesterday. It was OSCE stations, also known as Objective Structure Clinical Examination, used widely by the medics and our year is the first to use this format. It was the most intense exam I ever sat. The pressure was immense, and I couldn't really settle down well on all the 21 stations.

Bit worried about the result. Will it be what I aimed and expect? Will I pass? I guess most of my friends were also asking themselves and everyone else the same question. Intense.

Cant really feel fully relaxed. Still worry, but worrying it isn't a good way to use the free time I got finally. Better plan something to do...

I better pass the exams.

Tchaikovsky symphony no 6- 4th movement

got a bit bored in library... and i wanted to listen to this particularly piece.

Tchaikovsky's Symphony 6 is also know as 'pathetique', as it is a VERY emotional piece (not pathetic, I thought that myself too). This symphony moves from sheer happiness mood to sadness in a flick of a coin. however, the movements, is written beautifully, softly, conveys a lot of emotion in it.

It is also Tchaivkovsky's last piece of work before he died (loads of conspiracy in there). Also to me, I think this is the best piece of symphony he wrote out of all the 6. The way the strings interact, the way the movements are unfold. it is a beauty. enjoy...

it is played by the japanese orchestra, the NHK under the direction of charles dutoit (du-tua).

hi fi?

think I am pretty much decided about my hi fi set up. just need to listen to the various components when i got the cash haha.

1st set up, hopefully i can get them by Christmas or just after New Year, is the ADM AVI9.1 + Marantz CD6003 cd player.

the next higher end one... when I am home in KK prolly... is the one I aim to enjoy for many years to come.

Cyrus CD player + benchmark DAC1-HDR + ATC SCM20sl AT. Will be using a Macmini as my music hub i would think!

just ignore this post if u don't understand any of it... I am just dreaming about getting these, and the joy they can give to me to my massive interest on music, classical, mainly, of course. ( I do listen to others! I have an open mind you know)

band of brothers

was revising... n the radio played the soundtrack of band of brothers.

The miniseries is still one of my favourites, it still inspires me. It was watching it one night, tat led me to always pursue excellence in what i do.

Major Dick Winters is truly someone who inspires. He always told his men to do their best, keeping them together, to hang tough. To hang tough, he means, is doing your best, everyday.

In episode 7, when the Easy Company men were holding the line at Bastogne, 1st Lieutenant Norman Dike (who joined them for that campaign) asked 1st Sergeant Carwood Lipton (who joined the Paratroopers during their inception b4 WWII) this:

Dike: why did u join the paratroopers, Lip?
Lipton: I want to fight with the best, Sir.

inspiring.
Easy company trained very hardly (and very unfairly) for 2 years under their first Company officer before the war begun. I guess that hardened them too during the various campaigns they fought.

The reward? Heading to Hitler's Eagle Nest, the crown jewel of all.

I guess, to be the best, you are expected to face more difficulties/challenges, more things to do,
to help. (Easy company was always 'dumped' doing things other companies would normally retreat/pull back). The reward, would be big, too. recognition, at least for the men in Easy Company. Immortalised by this mini series. What they did, why they do it, what happened to them, what they got out from it.

i hope, this longish post... gives u some kind of inspiration.

or at least remember, peace is not granted. it is fought.

Fast Forward

hm... my mind somehow fast forwarded to a few months after May.

"Have a good life" ... I guess that is what I will be saying to most peoples on graduation day. I think that really, I wont be seeing most of them after this, apart from a handful few of them.

Driving along the rural areas where I work. To get this, must pass the driving test and get a car...

Relearn music? hmm... we shall see. when I finally realize I do have the time. and money.

cake? maybe learn to make some haha.

back to reality now.
